How to reach the Upper Town by bike

Reaching CIttà Alta by bike is now easier than ever thanks to the new city cycle-lanes. We thought of two
different alternatives for those with normal bicycles and for those with electric bicycles in order to solve the "problem" of the slope of the hill on which the Upper Town is located.
  • Normal bicycles (orange colour on the map). Leaving the main gate, go left keeping the right side of the road and staying on the cycle lane marked on the asphalt. Continue straight along via F. Corridoni until the intersection with Via Borgo Santa Caterina (where Banca Intesa is located), then turn right. Cross the entire Borgo and also pass the intersection at the end of it. Here you are in Piazza Carrara at the feet of the Upper Town. We recommend you to leave your bikes here and walk along the steps of via della Noca that flank the picture gallery. Another alternative can be to proceed with the bikes by hand along via Pignolo, until you reach the faculty of the University of Bergamo, where you can leave the bikes to continue on foot towards Porta Sant'Agostino, officially entering the Upper Town.
  • Electric Bicycles (blue colour on the map). The route is the same as that expressed above up until Piazza Carrara. Having the help of the electric motor we recommend you to proceed by bike along via Pignolo up to Porta Sant'Agostino. Once you have entered the Upper Town, then, proceed to the left along the road of the ancient walls (UNESCO heritage), until you arrive at Largo Colle Aperto.
